PRIORITY ACTION LINE 2: PROMOTING AND IMPROVEMENT OF EDUCATION AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING WITHIN THE FRAMEWORK OF LIFELONG LEARNING

The second priority action line concerns the promotion and enhancement of education and vocational training within the framework of an integrated system of lifelong learning, which provides the opportunity for the youth and adults to continuously improve their knowledge and skills, therefore contributing to employment retention and improvement throughout their lives. The venture is undertaken in order to improve the quality of education provided at all levels, with the aim of raising the effectiveness and competitiveness of the existing educational system.

Based on the aforementioned context, the general objectives of this priority action line are:

Coupling of education and employment by developing alternative forms of lifelong learning. Development of occupational guidance and counseling as well as the extension of internship and development of skills programmes.

Reformation of the initial vocational training and higher education’s curriculum so that essential knowledge and skills can be provided increasing, in that way, young peoples’ opportunities for employment and integration into the labour market.

Improvement of the quality of education provided by upgrading the educational process through continuous training of teaching staff, the evaluation of all parameters regarding the educational process and the reinforcement of infrastructure and teaching material.
